GoldenEye for the Nintendo Wii
The Wii game has been developed by Eurocom, fresh after its work on Dead Space Extraction for Electronic Arts and Visceral Games. GoldenEye 007 retains the polished scripted storytelling of Extraction with extremely well acted and animated in-game cutscenes. I was able to experience the single player campaign where the game opens up with Bond meeting up with 006 to infiltrate a Soviet base. Also you can use the classic controller and the classic controller pro along with the wii remote and nunchuk here is a trailer for all non belivers
MORTAL KOMBAT
Mortal Kombat is going back to its roots when it first appear to our genrations with violent fights and fatalities, classic characters and stages the plot so far it seems like they are going back in time from the beginning here is what Ed Boom had to say
"we're kind of doing a Back to the Future type of thing, where Raiden is about to be killed by Shao Kahn, and just before he delivers the last blow, he sends a mental message to his earlier self, so the camera rewinds back to Mortal Kombat 1. The Raiden from back then gets a message and he doesn't know what's going on, but he knows something bad's going to happen, and the game spans Mortal Kombat 1, 2 and 3, retelling the story with an enlightened Raiden, and he's changing the course of things, so everything you've seen happen before – Liu Kang winning, the guys turning into cybernetic ninjas, are changed around, so you might see a character become cybernetic who wasn't before, and so you see a different version of events."
the combo sytem is even different this time around it looks like you can come up with your own combo system as well as tag team match just like in the serie of Marvel vs Capcom
There are plenty of small touches that show the team is going the extra yards. For instance, yes there's lots of blood, but this blood actually has a physical presence in the world, spraying onto characters and bloodying them up. It's a small touch, but we like. Characters also take damage, so even if you win, chances are one of your eyes will be popping out of your head or your jaw will be smashed off.
And then there's the internal modeling. Yes, the team have modeled each character's insides for the X-Ray attacks, and the result looks great. Because hey, when Johnny Cage goes to town on an opponent's bathing suit area (an actual move), or Sub Zero reaches into an enemy's chest to freeze then shatter their liver (also an actual move – bless this game), you want their insides to look their best. Here is the first trailer enjoy

Donkey Kong is coming back!!!!
Retro Studios’ last released project was the Wii compilation Metroid Prime Trilogy and the last we spoke with them, the team was deep into its next project. “I think you’ll be very excited when you find out what we’re working on,” the team told us last year without saying another word.
Donkey Kong is certainly a property that’s a far cry from the mature Metroid franchise, but, if the rumors hold true, an attempt at a DK game could certainly stretch the team’s creative muscles. The last Donkey Kong game was the Wii-remake of Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat from Nintendo’s Tokyo team. Other external studios who have taken a crack at Donkey Kong include Rare with Donkey Kong Country and Donkey Kong 64, Namco with Donkey Konga, and Paon with DK King of Swing.

The sequel will refine gameplay elements from the first Force Unleashed, and add more variance with such features as puzzle solving and, at one point, piloting a TIE fighter. Combat will be modified to include the ability to wield dual lightsabers and more Force powers such as "mind trick" and "Force fury". New combos and enemies have been added as well.
Kirby coming to Nintendo Wii
The game is designed so that Kirby -- and much of the world -- is made out of yarn. Kirby can use the yarn to whip enemies and items, and can apparently transform into things like spaceships. Stay tuned to IGN for a hands-on preview later this week.

The wait for the new Xbox 360 is short, too. Very short. The new Xbox 360 ships today in North America and will be in retail later this week. The machine costs $299 USD, the same price as the existing 250 GB model. In Australia, it will release on 1st July for $449 AUD and for $499 NZD on 9th July in New Zealand. It'll launch July 16 across Europe and in the UK, priced 199 GBP.

Michael Jordan to be feature on the next NBA 2K series
Jason Argent, vice president of marketing for 2K Sports, confirmed to CNBC.com that the Charlotte Bobcats owner will appear on the cover of NBA 2K11, which will hit stores on Oct. 5.
“We’ve made a lot of progress over the past 10 years, but we know we have the best NBA video game ever made here,” Argent said. “So we thought to ourselves how can we embody that and there was only one person on that list who we wanted to have and that was Michael Jordan. Actually getting this done is the most ridiculous win of all-time.”
Michael Jordan had this to say
“It’s an honor to be featured on the cover of NBA 2K11,” Jordan said, in a statement. “I have no doubt that NBA 2K11 will be a big hit with gamers and basketball fans alike. I’m looking forward to getting back out on the court, virtually.”

Green Lantern: The Animated Series
HeatVisionBlog.com is reporting that Cartoon Network has a Green Lantern animated series in the works. Phil Kent, chairman and CEO of Time Warner's Turner networks unit, revealed a presentation slide for the series, Green Lantern: The Animated Series to a group of investors today.
Very similar to Marvel's animated series model – of having a cartoon debut around the same time as a feature film (Iron Man: Armored Adventures, the upcoming Thor cartoon) – the Green Lantern series will launch after the currently in production Green Lantern film's release.
No Director for the Hobbit movie
“In light of ongoing delays in the setting of a start date for filming The Hobbit, I am faced with the hardest decision of my life,” del Toro said in a statement on The OneRing.net. “After nearly two years of living, breathing and designing a world as rich as Tolkien’s Middle-earth, I must, with great regret, take leave from helming these wonderful pictures.”
While the filmmaker did note he will continue to co-write the screenplays (the J.R.R Tolkien novel is to be adapted into two feature films) with Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Philippa Boyens, any chance of him returning to the project after rights co-owner MGM/UA finds itself a buyer (the studio put itself up for sale back in November 2009) is all but dead.
“I wish the production nothing but the very best of luck and I will be first in line to see the finished product,” added del Toro. “I remain an ally to it and its makers, present and future, and fully support a smooth transition to a new director.”

Nintendo, American heart group join to tackle obesity
Nintendo, whose Wii consoles with motion-controlling sensors took markets by storm in 2006, is working with the AHA in order to cut the risks of heart disease among Americans, their websites said.
According to the AHA nearly 70 percent of Americans do not get enough regular physical activity. Obesity, a major health problem in the US, is a determinant of cardiovascular disease, the number one killer in the country.
The association said that the average American spends more than eight hours a day sitting and recommends all adults to get at least 150 minutes of moderate physical activity per week and 60 minutes daily for children.
Nintendo will carry the AHA logo on its active-play video game products including the Wii, the Wii Fit Plus, and the Wii Sports Resort.
The US has seen a dramatic increase in obesity during the past 20 years with roughly one in three adults considered obese, according to government statistics.
Nintendo hopes to reignite the Wii's sales, which have declined since its launch, and is banking on software aimed at increased physical activity as competitors such as Sony prepare to launch their own motion-sensing equipment.
The Kyoto-based company said earlier this month that games such as "Wii Sports Resort" and "Wii Fit Plus" helped raise the console's total lifetime sales to 70.93 million units, a record in the firm's history.

A possible leaked image posted on a Russian gaming site from E3 2010 reveals a list of games to be shown at E3 2010. On this list includes the title, God of War III: Afterfall. As of right now, it is unconfirmed if this is a real or propped image of what is to be revealed at E3 2010. Speculation believes that if this image is true, God of War III: Afterfall will be DLC for God of War III or an expansion to God of War III. Afterfall could also be what the SpartansStandTall website is leading to.

SpartansStandTall
Players who have obtained the platinum trophy of God of War III are linked to the URL: SpartansStandTall. On this page is a simple animation of a torrential rain falling into a body of water. In the upper-right of the screen is a Spartan shield with a circular meter around it that has slowly filled since God of War III's launch (As of April 29, 2010, the meter is about three quarters complete). Much speculation has arisen, both as to what causes the meter to fill (players earning all Trophies or players simply completing the game have been suggested by some) and, more importantly, what exactly the website will reveal, if anything. On this point, the speculation has given rise to a general belief that it will be something pertaining to the future of the God of War franchise and its story, citing the final post-credits scene from God of War III as a connection. As of April 29, 2010, the website now shows a human shaped reflection in the water when the lightning flashes. There is also half of the back of a shadowed head on the left side of the screen much like how the title screens of the God of War games show half of Kratos's face, except Kratos's face is shown on the right, where this is shown on the left.

Sony Motion Controller
Sony is on the Move.
During an event at the Game Developer's Conference in San Francisco, the company officially unveiled the name of their upcoming Playstation 3 motion control device: Playstation Move. The controller will hit shelves this fall.
"It's fast, precise and accurate," said Peter Dille, Sony's senior VP of marketing. "We like to think this is the next generation of motion-gaming...we're really approaching this as a platform launch."
Sony's response to the Nintendo Wii remote, the Playstation Move system requires both the new wand controller and the Playstation Eye camera to work. Though exact pricing has not been set, Sony confirmed that a "starter kit" of one controller, one Playstation Eye and one game will be sold for under $100. The Move will also be sold as a standalone product or bundled with the Playstation 3 system itself.
The Move packs a ton of tech into its slim controller. A three-axis gyroscope, a three-axis accelerometer and a magnetic field sensor work in tandem with the camera to purportedly provide more accurate spatial recognition than the Wii remote.
That weird little colored sphere stuck to the top? It's not just a fashion statement -- the camera uses that sphere to pinpoint the location of the controller by first detecting the dominant color of the room's background, then setting the sphere to a different color. That helps distinguish it from the environment...and puts on a nice light show to boot.
The company also showed off a "sub-controller" accessory that functions much like the Wii nunchuk device, a small, handheld joystick that lets players control games in a more traditional way.
Sony demonstrated several Move games, including new titles Sports Champions, Move Party and Motion Fighters (working title) alongside integration in current releases like LittleBigPlanet and upcoming shooter SOCOM 4.
According to Dille, Sony sees the Move as the next step for Wii users who are looking to move on to a high-def experience. He's hoping the Move's increased accuracy will work with "core gamers" in addition to the casual fans.
"Virtually every third-party publisher is on board with Playstation Move," Dille noted, although that might be overstating it a bit. Over 35 major publishers have officially signed on to work on Move games, including industry leader EA, who has already revealed that the upcoming Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 will work with the Move.
Initial reaction has been mixed. Gizmodo was impressed by the SOCOM demo, calling it "much smoother" than similar experiences on the Wii, but considered the swordfighting game from Sports Champions to be only a slight improvement over the Wii Motion Plus.
MTV Multiplayer calls the controller's rounded form factor "much more natural to hold" than its Nintendo counterpart, but also takes issue with its newness -- or lack thereof.
"It's definitely neat, and fun to play, but it hasn't differentiated itself from the competition enough to make it feel "new." Wii Motion Plus with better graphics is a hard comparison to escape from," said editor Russ Frushtick.
Ars Technica agrees, pointing out that "the technology is mature, but it seems like a reaction to the success of the Wii, and not a brand-new experience."
With months to go before it releases, Sony has plenty of time to dial in the tech and announce more games. So what do you think? Are you excited by the Move, or is it just a Wii remote knock-off? Sound off in the comments.

We have an answer an asteroid killed off the dinosaurs
LONDON (Reuters) – A giant asteroid smashing into Earth is the only plausible explanation for the extinction of the dinosaurs, a global scientific team said on Thursday, hoping to settle a row that has divided experts for decades.
A panel of 41 scientists from across the world reviewed 20 years' worth of research to try to confirm the cause of the so-called Cretaceous-Tertiary (KT) extinction, which created a "hellish environment" around 65 million years ago and wiped out more than half of all species on the planet.
Scientific opinion was split over whether the extinction was caused by an asteroid or by volcanic activity in the Deccan Traps in what is now India, where there were a series of super volcanic eruptions that lasted around 1.5 million years.
The new study, conducted by scientists from Europe, the United States, Mexico, Canada and Japan and published in the journal Science, found that a 15-kilometre (9 miles) wide asteroid slamming into Earth at Chicxulub in what is now Mexico was the culprit.
"We now have great confidence that an asteroid was the cause of the KT extinction. This triggered large-scale fires, earthquakes measuring more than 10 on the Richter scale, and continental landslides, which created tsunamis," said Joanna Morgan of Imperial College London, a co-author of the review.
The asteroid is thought to have hit Earth with a force a billion times more powerful than the atomic bomb at Hiroshima.
Morgan said the "final nail in the coffin for the dinosaurs" came when blasted material flew into the atmosphere, shrouding the planet in darkness, causing a global winter and "killing off many species that couldn't adapt to this hellish environment."
Scientists working on the study analyzed the work of paleontologists, geochemists, climate modelers, geophysicists and sedimentologists who have been collecting evidence about the KT extinction over the last 20 years.
Geological records show the event that triggered the dinosaurs' demise rapidly destroyed marine and land ecosystems, they said, and the asteroid hit "is the only plausible explanation for this."
Peter Schulte of the University of Erlangen in Germany, a lead author on the study, said fossil records clearly show a mass extinction about 65.5 million years ago -- a time now known as the K-Pg boundary.
Despite evidence of active volcanism in India, marine and land ecosystems only showed minor changes in the 500,000 years before the K-Pg boundary, suggesting the extinction did not come earlier and was not prompted by eruptions.
The Deccan volcano theory is also thrown into doubt by models of atmospheric chemistry, the team said, which show the asteroid impact would have released much larger amounts of sulphur, dust and soot in a much shorter time than the volcanic eruptions could have, causing extreme darkening and cooling.
Gareth Collins, another co-author from Imperial College, said the asteroid impact created a "hellish day" that signaled the end of the 160-million-year reign of the dinosaurs, but also turned out to be a great day for mammals.
"The KT extinction was a pivotal moment in Earth's history, which ultimately paved the way for humans to become the dominant species on Earth," he wrote in a commentary on the study.
(Collins has created a website at http://impact.ese.ic.ac.uk/ImpactEffects/Chicxulub.html which allows readers to see the effects of the asteroid impact.)

New Tomb Raider coming soon!!!!!
Crystal Dynamics return on the development duties, and General Manager Darrell Gallagher sounded suitably excited by the news. "This is a really exciting project for Crystal Dynamics, we have created something completely new and very different to what people might be expecting" he said whilst backflipping and shooting a tiger.
Lara's last outing – and indeed her first proper adventure on the current generation – was Tomb Raider Underworld, a game we rather liked and awarded an 8.5.
Lara Croft and The Guardian of Light is being shown at next week's GDC in San Francisco, so expect more news soon.

Apple sues HTC Google phone maker
Apple today filed a lawsuit against mobile devices maker HTC. The suit claims infringement of 20 patents related to the iPhone's user interface, underlying architecture, and hardware.
In the release, Steve Jobs says, "We can sit by and watch competitors steal our patented inventions, or we can do something about it. We've decided to do something about it...We think competition is healthy, but competitors should create their own original technology, not steal ours."
Taiwan-based HTC was the first company to manufacture a cell phone based on Google's Android operating system, which has emerged as a significant competitor to the iPhone, AP reports. It's also making the Nexus One phone that Google is selling directly to consumers.
It looks like the Nexus One, and other HTC phones, may have hit too close to home for Steve Jobs.
Earlier, we supposed that Apple's multi-touch user interface could be the basis for the lawsuit. But after examining the complaint, it appears that Apple is NOT suing over multitouch, but rather a bunch of other software. (When Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone, he touted its multitouch screen, then said, "And boy, have we patented it.")
Meanwhile, Apple is already tied up in a patent lawsuit with Nokia, claiming Nokia is stealing Apple technology. Nokia says Apple is stealing its technology. Kodak is also suing Apple claiming technology theft.
Basically, Apple's patent lawyers are going to be busy for the next year or so.
Spider-Man Joins the Unemployed - Comics News at IGN
March 1, 2010 - It's no secret that Spider-Man is not only one of the world's most popular superheroes, but one of the most relatable as well. Today Marvel Comics announced that an upcoming storyline of Amazing Spider-Man, one that begins this week, will once again align the life of Peter Parker with the lives of many across the world given the challenging economic climate many face.
That's right folks, Peter Parker is about to lose his job. This week's issue will not only feature the latest threat from the Vulture, but Parker will be forced to put his job on the line to protect his boss, New York City Mayor J. Jonah Jameson.
Marvel supplied this quote from Spider-Man editor Steve Wacker: "Peter Parker's been through some rough times lately, with all of his deadliest foes returning, and he couldn't lose his job at a worse time. He's going to struggle with unemployment and trying to save the city while he can barely afford to keep a roof over his head."
Marvel's press release also mentioned that as a result of this falling out with the mayor, Peter will be blacklisted from employment opportunities in the city, truly creating a challenging situation for the wall-crawler.
Check out the cover and a teaser image for the storyline. Amazing Spider-Man #623, written by Mark Waid and drawn by Paul Azaceta, hits stores this week, on March 3, 2010. Issue #624, the conclusion of the story, will hit stores next week. This arc is also the latest on the ongoing "Gauntlet" saga that features some of Spidey's deadliest villains returning to make his life a living Hell.

The Future of God of War
John Hight, studio director at Santa Monica, told Joystiq that "while God of War III will conclude the trilogy, it won't spell the end of the franchise". With the third game "capping off what we started with God of War," Hight says we should expect more God of War games to follow, but the decision on where to take the franchise after the initial trilogy (and portable prequel) won't be taken lightly. "We're going to be really careful about what we do next," he assures.

J Dilla
2000 marked the major label debut of Slum Village with Fantastic, Vol. 2, creating a new following for Jay Dee as a producer and an MC. He was also a founding member of the production collective known as The Soulquarians (along with Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson, D'Angelo and James Poyser amongst others) which earned him more recognition and buzz. He subsequently worked with Erykah Badu, Talib Kweli, and Common - contributing heavily to the latter's critically acclaimed breakthrough album, Like Water for Chocolate.
His debut as a solo artist came in 2001 with the single "Fuck the Police", followed by the album Welcome 2 Detroit, which kicked off U.K. Independent record label BBE's "Beat Generation" series. In 2001, Jay Dee, began using the name "J Dilla" (an attempt to differentiate himself from Jermaine Dupri who also goes by "J.D."), and left Slum Village to pursue a major label solo career with MCA Records.
2002 saw Dilla producing the entirety of Frank-N-Dank's 48 Hours, as well as a solo album, but neither record was ever released, although the former did eventually surface through bootlegging. When Dilla finished working with Frank-N-Dank on the 48 Hours album, MCA Records requested a record with a larger commercial appeal, and the artists re-recorded the majority of the tracks, this time using little to no samples. Despite this, neither versions of the album saw the light of day, and Dilla expressed he was disappointed that the music never got out to the fans.
Dilla was signed to a solo deal with MCA Records in 2002 and completed an album in 2003. Although Dilla was known as a producer rather than an MC, he chose to rap on the album and have the music produced by some of his favorite producers such as Madlib, Pete Rock, Hi-Tek, Supa Dave West, Kanye West, Nottz, Waajeed, Quebo Kuntry (J.Benjamin) and others. The album was shelved due to internal changes at the label and MCA folding into Geffen Records. In a 2007 video interview, Dilla's friend DJ House Shoes alluded to the possibility of the MCA album finally seeing an official release through Stones Throw Records in the future. In April 2008, the album, called Pay Jay, began circulating. BBC Radio 1Xtra DJ Benji B played songs from it on his April 18 show, saying that the album is coming out, and people on the internet privately shared and discussed the album.
While the record with MCA stalled, Dilla recorded the uncompromising Ruff Draft, released exclusively to vinyl by German label Groove Attack. Although the album was little known, it signaled a change in sound and attitude, and his work from this point on was increasingly released through independent record labels. In a 2003 interview with Groove Attack, Dilla talked about this change of direction:
You know, if I had a choice, skip the major labels and just put it out yourself man... Trust me. I tell everybody it's better to do it yourself and let the Indies come after you instead of going in their [direction] and getting a deal and you have to wait, it ain't fun, take it from me. Right now, I'm on MCA but it feels like I'm an unsigned artist still. It's cool, it's a blessing, but damn I'm like, 'When's my shit gonna come out? I'm ready now, what's up?'

Info about the Hulk
The Hulk is a fictional character appearing in comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the character first appeared in The Incredible Hulk #1 (May 1962). In 2008, the hobbyist magazine Wizard named the Hulk the seventh-greatest Marvel Comics character. Empire Magazine named him the fourteenth greatest comic book character overall, and the fifth highest ranked in the Marvel stable.
The Hulk is cast as the emotional and impulsive alter ego of the withdrawn and reserved physicist Dr. Bruce Banner. The Hulk appears shortly after Banner is accidentally exposed to the blast of a test detonation of a gamma bomb he invented. Subsequently, Banner will involuntarily transform into the Hulk, depicted as a giant, raging, humanoid monster, leading to extreme complications in Banner's life. Lee said the Hulk's creation was inspired by a combination of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Frankenstein.
Although the Hulk's coloration has varied throughout the character's publication history, the most consistent shade is green. As the Hulk, Banner is capable of significant feats of strength, which increases in direct proportion to the character's anger. Strong emotions such as anger, terror and grief are also triggers for forcing Banner's transformation into the Hulk. A common storyline is the pursuit of both Banner and the Hulk by the police or the armed forces, due to the destruction he causes.
The character has since been depicted in various other media, most notably by Lou Ferrigno in a live action television series, six television movies, and an animated series; through the use of CGI in Hulk (2003) and The Incredible Hulk (2008), as well as in three animated series and various video games.

Comic Book Character of the Month Hulk!!!
Some Facts about J Dilla
James Yancey was the second oldest of four children including an older brother (Earl), a younger sister and a younger brother, Johnny, also a rapper/producer known as Illa J. The family lived in a house situated near McDougall and East Nevada, off E. 7 Mile in Detroit. He developed a vast musical knowledge from his parents (his mother is a former opera singer and his father was a jazz bassist). According to his mother, he could "match pitch perfect harmony" by "two-months old", to the amazement of musician friends and relatives. He began collecting vinyl at the age of two and would be allowed to spin records in the park, an activity he enjoyed tremendously as a child.
Along with a wide range of musical genres, Yancey developed a passion for hip hop music and formed a rap group called Slum Village with schoolmates T3 (R.L. Altman), and Baatin (Titus Glover) at Pershing High School. He had also taken up beatmaking, using a simple tapedeck as the center of his studio. During these teenage years he "stayed in the basement alone" with his ever-growing collection of records, perfecting his craft. He later told Pete Rock when they met years later that "I was trying to be you."

Apple IPad
SAN FRANCISCO – Apple Inc. will sell the newly unveiled tablet-style iPad starting at $499, a price tag far below the $1,000 that some analysts were expecting.
The iPad, which is larger in size but similar in design to Apple's popular iPhone, was billed by CEO Steve Jobs on Wednesday as "so much more intimate than a laptop and so much more capable than a smart phone."
Jobs, 54, a survivor of pancreatic cancer who got a liver transplant during a 5 1/2-month medical leave last year, looked thin as he introduced the highly anticipated gadget.
The iPad has a 9.7-inch touch screen, is a half-inch thick, weighs 1.5 pounds and comes with 16, 32 or 64 gigabytes of flash memory storage. The basic iPad models will cost $499, $599 and $699, depending on the storage size.
All models have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity built in. Jobs said the device has a battery that lasts 10 hours and can sit for a month on standby without needing a charge.
Apple will also sell a version with pay-as-you-go data plans from AT&T in the U.S. Two tiers of data plan will be available without contracts: $14.99 per month for 250 megabytes of data, or $29.99 for unlimited data usage.
Those 3G models will cost more — $629, $729 and $829, depending on the amount of memory. The Wi-Fi only version will be available worldwide in March, and the 3G version in April. International cellular data details have not yet been announced.
Apple had kept its "latest creation" tightly under wraps until Wednesday's unveiling, though many analysts had correctly speculated that it would be a one-piece tablet computer with a big touch screen, larger than an iPhone but smaller than a laptop.
The CEO demonstrated how the iPad is used for surfing the Web with Apple's Safari browser. He typed an e-mail using an on-screen keyboard and flipped through photo albums by flicking his finger across the screen. And he showed off a new electronic book store, putting the iPad in competition with Amazon.com Inc.'s Kindle and other e-book readers.
Jobs said the iPad will also be better for playing games and watching video than either a laptop or a smart phone. The iPad comes with software including a calendar, maps, a video player and iPod software for playing music. All seem to have been slightly redesigned to take advantage of the iPad's bigger screen.
Tablet computers have existed for a decade, with little success. Jobs acknowledged Apple will have to work to convince consumers who already have smart phones and laptops that they need this gadget.
"In order to really create a new category of devices, those devices are going to have to be far better at doing some key tasks," Jobs said. "We think we've got the goods. We think we've done it."
Applications designed for the iPhone can run on the iPad. Apple is also releasing updated tools for software developers to help them build iPhone and iPad programs.
"We think it's going to be a whole 'nother gold rush for developers as they build applications for the iPad," said Scott Forstall, an iPhone software executive.
A new newspaper reader program from The New York Times and a game from Electronic Arts Inc. were also demonstrated during the event. The audience, which included many journalists and bloggers, clapped and even gave Jobs a standing ovation.
Shares in Apple rose $1.84, or less than 1 percent, to $207.78 in afternoon trading Wednesday. The Cupertino, Calif.-based company's shares have more than doubled over the past year, partly on anticipation of the tablet computer. Shares in Amazon rose $1.51, or 1.3 percent, to $120.99.

Nexus One Review
The Nexus One is a smartphone from Google that uses the Android open source mobile operating system. The device is manufactured by Taiwan's HTC Corporation, and became available on January 5, 2010.Features of the phone include the ability to transcribe voice to text, noise canceling dual microphones, and voice directions while driving.
The phone comes unlocked and is not restricted to any particular mobile network provider. Google currently offers it for use on the T-Mobile network in the United States; a version for use on the Verizon (US) and Vodafone (European) networks is expected in the second calendar quarter of 2010.
HTC has managed to get the thickness of the phone down to just 11.5mm, and it measures just 59.8mm and 119mm across and up and down -- kind of a feat when you consider the guts of this thing. In the hand it's a bit lighter than you expect -- though it's not straight-up light -- and the curved edges and slightly tapered top and bottom make for a truly comfortable phone to hold. On the glass-covered front of the device there are four "hardware" buttons (just touch-sensitive spots on the display) laid out exactly as the Droid's four hard keys: back, menu, home, and search. Clearly this is going to be something of a trend with Google-approved devices.
Unlike the Droid, the Nexus One has a trackball just below those buttons that should feel very familiar to Hero users -- the placement feels a bit awkward here, and there's literally nothing in the OS that requires it. Along the left side you've got a volume rocker, up top there's a sleep / wake / power button on one end, and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the other, and along the bottom there's a micro-USB port, a mic hole, and three gold dots that look destined for some kind of dock (which would jibe with what we've seen and heard). Around back you'll find the strangely pronounced 5 megapixel camera and accompanying LED flash, along with Google's Android mascot holding up a QR code -- a decidedly geeky Google touch that we expect won't make it to the final retail version. The layout of the phone is solid, though we would have liked a physical camera key (no biggie), and we actually had some real trouble with those four dedicated buttons. Hopefully it was just our review unit, but the target areas seemed to be too high on the row, and we found ourselves consistently accidentally tapping them while composing an email or text message, or missing them when we tapped a little too low. It wasn't a deal breaker, but it was definitely maddening -- especially considering that we don't have similar issues on the Droid.
Despite the minor niggles, HTC and Google have put together pretty damn good looking and feeling phone; it's not without faults, but they're pretty few and far between.
